Consumer prices in the euro area in July increased by 8.9% in annual terms after rising by 8.6% in June, according to preliminary data from the Statistical Office of the European Union.
This is the highest figure in the history of calculations.
Analysts polled by Trading Economics, on average, predicted an increase in consumer prices this month by 8.6%.
